Russell Eugene “Rusty” Jenkins, age 54, of Culpeper, VA, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2014, at the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville. Born September 7, 1959, in Charlottesville, VA, to Eugene V. Jenkins and Dorothy M. Jenkins, Rusty was a true civil servant. Retiring from the Culpeper Police Department in 2012, as the Administrative Assistant to the Chief, Rusty loved police work and serving the citizens of Culpeper. He served for the Warrenton Town Police, Culpeper Town Police, Culpeper Sheriff’s Department, and Rappahannock Sheriff’s Department and as a reserve for Greene County Sheriff’s Department. He also worked for Culpeper County Schools as an attendance clerk/resource officer and for Germanna Community College. He served on the Culpeper County School Board in the Catalpa District.
Surviving Rusty is his wife, Sue Bunch Jenkins of Culpeper, sisters; Shirley Estes and Rebecca Deal of Manassas and their families, Rose Foster and her family of Rappahannock. He also is survived by brother-in –law Vernon Bunch and his wife, Jane, and their children; Jason and Kelly. Rusty enjoyed his three animals; Toast, Muffin and Biscuit.
There will be an evening of visitation for friends and family Friday, April 25, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Eastern View High School, Cyclone Way, Culpeper. A celebration of Rusty’s life will be held Saturday, April 26, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the EVHS Auditorium with Rev. Sandy Martin officiating. Interment will be private.
