Obituary of Lee Anna Wharton
Lee Anna Wharton, 95, of Sperryville, Virginia went to be in the arms of her Savior on November 6th, 2024 at Mountain View Nursing Home in Aroda, Virginia. Lee Anna was born in Sperryville, Virginia on August 28th, 1929 in what is now known as the Shenandoah National Park. At the age of 16, she started working at Swiss Chalet in Sperryville as a waitress. She then went to work at Wrangler in Luray, Virginia as a seamstress for 35+ years. Lee Anna was a dedicated servant of the Lord. She was a proud member of Thorton’s Gap Regular Baptist Church. She enjoyed attending revivals and services at many local churches. She read her bible on a regular basis, until her sight would no longer allow her to see even the largest print. Lee Anna was a kind, selfless soul who never met a stranger. She loved her family deeply. She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Wharton, her parents, Lee and Thelma Atkins, her sisters, Christina and Frances Marie Atkins, her brother, Wilson Atkins, her daughter-in-law, Joyce Wharton, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She is survived by her son, Albert Wharton, daughter, Lisa Dodson (Ronnie), four grandchildren, Gary Wharton (Stephanie), Mark Wharton (Ashley), Amber Brown (Andrew), and Courtney Dodson, great-grandson, Bryce Wharton, brother, James Atkins (Lou), and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Clore-English Funeral Home, 11190 James Monroe Highway, Culpeper, VA on Tuesday, November 12th, 2024 at 1:00pm. Burial service will be held at Sperryville Cemetery, 3796 Sperryville Pike Sperryville, VA following the service. The family will receive friends from 12:00pm until service time. Pallbearers are Ronnie Dodson, Gary Wharton, Mark Wharton, Andrew Brown, Hunter Grigsby, and Andy Baldwin.
