Judith Kennedy Currie, age 80, passed away peacefully at home with her beloved husband Martyn Currie at her side on July 13, 2021. She is survived by her seven children Scott Kennedy, Cathy Johnson, David Taylor, Gary Currie, Monica Cosslett, Julie Miller, Jeff Currie, ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and her brothers Jimmy Taylor and Tim Taylor.
Judy was born on January 16, 1941 in Rocky Mount, NC and raised in Hampton, VA. After leaving her home state in 1976 she lived in Colorado for 24 years and retired in 2000 with her husband Martyn in Clayton, North Carolina.
Highlights of Judy’s career include her roles as an Administrative Assistant with the Mariner’s Museum in Newport News, VA as well as The Colorado Bureau of Investigation in the records lab and supporting the Director in Lakewood, CO. She developed a national network of friends and followers through her quilting blog as an accomplished quilter in Clayton, NC, her home since 2000. Judy also had a keen sense for interior decorating and regularly enjoyed another of her favorite hobbies, gardening with her husband Martyn.
A graveside gathering will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Madison, VA on Wednesday, July 21 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations toward The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.
