Joseph Paul Vargo passed away, at the age of 80, at his home December 28, 2022. Born December 7, 1942 in Ayer, MA to Joseph Vargo and Rita Bodah Vargo, Joseph served his country for almost 24 years in the United States Army. He served in Vietnam, as well as, South Korea and Germany and other stations in the United States. Joseph was also a part of the inaugural committee for the U.S Presidential campaign between Clinton and Bush, Sr. He worked in the NBC security and was the kitchen manager for Country Cookin’ and Western Sizzler, both in Fredericksburg, VA that led to his employment as kitchen manager with UKrops in Spotsylvania, VA.
Surviving Joseph is his wife of 34 years, Doreen A. Vargo of Culpeper, VA; children Jeannine Smith and her husband Edwin, and Doreen R. Vargo; stepchildren, Christina Miller and her husband, Stephen; Matthew Malcolm and Michael Malcolm; ten grandchildren, Randy Vargo and his wife Staci, Rian Vargo, Olivia Vargo, Ariel McDowell and her husband Preston, Raven Biggs, Emerald Irvin, Brianna Malcolm, Mikaya Malcolm, Landon Malcolm, Wyatt Malcolm and several great-grandchildren; siblings, Mary Caron and her husband Sonny, Frannie Raatikainen and Frank Vargo.
In addition to his parents, Joseph’s siblings, Nicholas Vargo, John Vargo and Richard Vargo precede him in death.
The family will receive friends Sunday, January 8, 2023 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Clore-English Funeral Home with Funeral Services held Monday, January 9, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Culpeper United Methodist Church with Pastor Won Lee officiating. Interment will follow in the Culpeper National Cemetery, New Grounds 501 East Chandler Street, Culpeper with military honors provided by the VFW Post 2524 Honor Guard. Light Fare reception will follow burial back at the Culpeper U.M.C. fellowship hall.
