Joseph Thomas Madigan, 88, of Louisa, VA passed away in his home, Thursday, September 29, 2011. Mr. Madigan was born in Washington, DC to John Frances Madigan and Elsie Mae Neitzey Madigan, August 18, 1923; retired as an iron worker in Local #5, Washington, D.C; was a Redskins fan; was an amateur lapidary; enjoyed boating, hunting, and camping and his grandchildren made him happy. Mr. Madigan served his country during W.W.II as a medic-paratrooper and was awarded two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star, among other decorations and citations.
Surviving Mr. Madigan is his wife, Agnes B. Madigan of Louisa, VA; his daughters, Pamela Frankel and her husband Edward of Lawrenceville, NJ and JoAnn Stallings of Culpeper, VA; his sister, Dorothy Palfrey of Fairfax, VA; his grandchildren, David Teitelbaum and his wife Jennifer, John Stallings and his wife Liz, Lori Frankel, James Patrick Stallings and his wife Jocie, Amy Frankel and Jenna Stallings and his nine great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, John Francis Madigan, Jr., William Thomas Madigan, Helen Young and Bernard Madigan.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Clore-English Funeral Home with Father Michael Orlowsky conducting the service. Interment will be held at a later date.
The family will receive friends Monday, October 3, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Clore-English Funeral Home.
