Helen Marion Turner of Culpeper, VA passed away at her residence Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at the age of 84 after a short battle with cancer. Helen was the widow of the late Hugh Ashby Turner, Jr. of Culpeper. Helen was born October 27, 1933 to Hillary B. Kidwell and Mary G. Bicksler Kidwell, at home on a farm in Herndon, VA. Helen also had a sister Hilda and a brother Roland, both deceased. For her final days Helen was peacefully at home under the care of her daughter, Connie Anderson, Connie’s husband Mike and daughter Tiffany along with the Hospice of the Piedmont staff.
Helen graduated from Falls Church High School in 1951 and worked in the Fairfax County school system for 10 years. She then worked in several nursing homes as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Later she volunteered as “pink lady” at Culpeper Hospital. Helen was a great cook of southern comfort food and was the “rock” of her family.
Surviving Helen are her daughter, Connie Anderson, and her husband Mike of Culpeper, VA; sons, Lee Turner and his wife Linda of Hidden Valley, CA; Hugh A. Turner, III and his wife Becky of Gainesville, VA; Keith Turner and his wife Beverly of Burke, VA; grandchildren Tiffany Anderson, Amanda Budd and her husband Garrett, Alan Turner, Josh Turner and his wife Ashley, Ben Turner and his wife Keri, Amy Turner and her husband Devan Conrick and Rebecca Turner, great-grandchildren, Katie Turner, Maddox Turner, Ellyson and Alaina Turner, and step-great grandchild Chris O’Brien.
