Beulah Mae Cox, age 97, of Culpeper, VA, formerly of Ada, OK, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2011, at the Culpeper Baptist Retirement Community in Culpeper, VA. Mrs. Cox was born December 4, 1913 in Roff, OK, to William Grover Cleveland Dorsey and Nancy Clementine Godbehere Dorsey. Survivors include her three children; Carolyn Fox and her husband Harvey of Rixeyville, VA, Lowell Ray Cox and his wife Jana of Waco, TX, and Ronnie Cox and his wife Liz of Ada, OK , twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and one great, great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Cox is preceded in death by her first husband of one year, Frank Caldwell and her second husband of 68 years Raymond Cox; and her six brothers, Milton, Herman, Elmer, Raymond, Bill Jr. and Jimmie and one sister Ona Dorsey Flinn.
Mrs. Cox had a great love of learning and music, singing many solos in school and church. She worked for many years at Montgomery Ward retail store in Ada before leaving to become a wife and mother. While raising her family Mrs. Cox helped her husband operate bus station food concessions in Seminole, Lindsay and Chickasha, OK. They opened their first restaurant in Enid, OK. In 1953 the family moved to Madill, OK where they opened their most successful and well known restaurant, Cox’s Dairy Bar. In 1971 they sold the Dairy bar and returned to Ada where they owned and operated Cox’s Drive-In until retiring in 1978. Mrs. Cox was a member of the Southwest Church of Christ in Ada, OK.
Mrs. Cox was a devoted and loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She never failed to help her family in any way they might need. She will forever be deeply loved, missed and remembered by her family.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 2, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. in the Little Fork Episcopal Church, 16461 Oak Shade Road, Rixeyville, VA 22737 with Rev. William Eberle officiating. Interment will follow in the Little Fork Burial Grounds.
