Barbara Ann Cook, 72 years old, passed away on July 11, 2024. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother to three young grandchildren (Ainsley, Emmalyn, and Harrison).
Barbara was born on March 5, 1952 in Sumter, South Carolina to Mary Louise McCann and Wayne E Billig. As part of a military family, she traveled the world during her childhood, living in both Germany and Okinawa before eventually settling back in South Carolina. After being accepted at VCU, she moved to Richmond, VA where she met her husband Bryon Cook. After earning a degree from VCU in interior design, together they moved to Culpeper in 1979 where they later had two children Brad and Scott.
Barbara was a devoted wife and mother. She loved spending time with her family and friends, cooking, and traveling. She enjoyed being active in the community, frequently volunteering at the Culpeper food closet.
She was preceded in death by her father Wayne Billig. She is survived by her husband Bryon, her mother Mary Louise McCann, her brother Shane, and her sons Scott (Kimberly) and Brad (Erica). She will be greatly missed by her family, who will forever remember the love and warmth she brought into their lives.
A visitation for Barbara will be held at the Clore-English funeral home on Wednesday July 17 between 6-8 pm. Her funeral service will be held at St. Stephens Church on Thursday July 18 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Culpeper Food Closet in Barbara’s name.
