Virginia V. Drake passed away on July 10, 2017 at the age of 89. She was born in Hanceville on May 7, 1928 to John William and Cuba Harris Manning. Mrs. Drake worked at Goodyear in Decatur while attending Cullman High School during World War II. She also went to school and became a licensed cosmetologist. In 1946 she met Talmadge Drake at Mayo’s Beauty Shop and on November 8, 1947, they were married. They bought a house and started farming and they had a Grade A Dairy for 26 years on the farm they are still living on and sold the milk to Deep South Dairy. Mrs. Drake was the owner and parts manager of D and H Cycles for 45 years until she slowed down at the age of 87. She loved her customers and friends she met while working there. She loved to campout and ride motorcycles. Her real passion was cooking, canning and providing for her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 14, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Moss Funeral Home Chapel with Elder David Guttery officiating. Interment will be in Flint Creek Cemetery.
Survivors are: Husband of 70 years: Cloyce Talmadge Drake, Daughter: Renaa Starlet (Jerold) Hopper, Sister: Maud Nelyne Parker, Granddaughter: Mandy C. (Dave) Park, Great Grandchild: Alexa Manning Park and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Thursday, July 13, 2017 from 5:30 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Moss Funeral Home.
