Funeral Services for Thomas “Red” Edward Bates, age 71 will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 12, 2015 in the Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery, with Jack Thorn & Jamie West officiating.

“Red” passed away Thursday, April 9, 2015 at his residence. He was born on September 27, 1943 in Cullman to the late Rueben Sam Bates Sr. & Vera Hayes Bates. He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister and 5 – brothers. He attended Hanceville Assembly of God; and retired with over 30 years of service to Apel Machine & Supply Company. Mr. Bates was a hard worker and loved his family.

Survivors include his Wife – Martha Gail Bates; 2 – Sons – Tony Edward (Sarah) Bates & Johnny Lee (Stacy) Bates; one Brother – Sam (Charlotte) Bates; and 4 – Grandchildren – Daniel A. Bates, Devin B. Bates, Abigail G. Bates & Dracen B. Bates.

Pallbearers will be Roby Coley, B.J. Coley, Shannon Hamby, Anthony Hamby, Randy Love & Tim King.

The family will receive friends for visitation at the funeral home on Saturday, April 11, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
