Shelby Jean Nix

Funeral services for Shelby Jean Sweatmon Nix, 74, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at Spirit Life Church of God, the Revs. Andrew Ball and Tim Herron officiating, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery. The body will lie in state from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Nix died Sunday, Sept. 1, at her residence. She was born March 6, 1939, to Rev. Curtis and Lucille Kritner.

She was preceded in death by death by her parents; and a grandson, Justin Leon Nuss.

Survivors include her husband, Burlis Nix; a son, Lynn (Janet) Sweatmon; a daughter, Donna (Jim) Osborne, Joan (Tim Ramsey) Blakemore, Glenda (Randy) Bates and Sheila (Greg) Nuss; a stepdaughter, Diann (John) Smith; a stepson, Eric (Christine) Nix; a brother, Robert (Janie) Kritner; three sisters, Betty (John) Wilhite, Dean (Curly) Speegle and Brenda (Kenneth) Hunter; 20 grandchildren, Matt Blakemore, April Hogan, Adam Blakemore, Amanda Voss, Jennifer Nuss, Kristie Birdsong, Trenda Kimbrell, Katie Rutledge, Lindsie Sweatmon, Delaney Bates, Kim Flippo, Jamie Adkins, Jon Bolan, Bryan Smith, Chrissy Sims, Danielle Nix, Michele Whitlock, Christopher Nix, William Nix and Marcus Nix; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
