Robert is survived by his son Robert Goodwin II (Lisa) and daughter Angie Norris (Buddy) of Decatur, Alabama; his five grandchildren Justin Sivley (Sarah) of Orangeburg, South Carolina, and Jessica Goodwin, Matthew Goodwin, Benjamin Norris (Gracie), and Kinsley Jeffreys, all of Decatur, Alabama; five nephews and three nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Sedon Goodwin and Ruby Pearl Brown Goodwin of Vinemont, Alabama; sister Myra Goodwin, infant twin brothers, and brothers Alva Paul Goodwin, William Curtis Goodwin, Doyle Clark Goodwin, and John Wallace Goodwin.
Robert was born on June 4, 1941, in rural Cullman County (now Vinemont), Alabama. He graduated from Cullman High School in 1959. He was a meat-cutter with Kroger Company for 43 years until his retirement.
Outside of work Robert enjoyed traveling, and collecting and restoring antiques. He was also an avid fan of Alabama football and Atlanta Braves baseball.
Robert was a cherished father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, and will be missed by all who knew him.
A funeral service is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2023 at Moss Service Funeral Home in Cullman, Alabama, with visitation two hours prior to the service. The service will be followed by interment at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Cullman, Alabama.
