Funeral Services for Mrs. Mary Rose McGukin, age 83 of Cullman, will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Edwin Hayes officiating. Interment will follow at Cullman City Cemetery.

Mrs. McGukin passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born on January 31, 1928 in Cullman to John Grady “Crip” Hodge and Norma Hamrick Hodge. Mary was a lifelong resident of Cullman, and a lifelong member of First Baptist Church. She was active in the Pilot Club for several years; but most likely known as a “fixture” to many patrons at the All Steak Restaurant, working there over 55 years, mostly during the breakfast and lunch crowds. Known as “Rosie”, she had a following with the morning and afternoon “Coffee Drinkers”.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband former Mayor of Cullman, Bob McGukin and one brother, Euell Hodge.
Survivors include her one Daughter – Nancy (Larry) Wright; two 2 – Sons – Geoffrey (Nikki) McGukin and Courtney McGukin; five 5 – Grandchildren – Clint (Allison) Wright, Wesley (Kayce) Wright, Jackson McGukin, Isabella McGukin and Collin McGukin; 2 – Great-Granddaughters – Presley Wright and Maime Rose Wright; two 2 – Sisters – Mildred (John) Williamson and Polly Tankersley; and one Brother – Ellis (Wanda) Hodge; one Sister-in-Law - Pris Hodge.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, September 17, 2011, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu-of-flowers, the family ask donations be made in Mary’s name to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
