Mr. Kennith L. (Kenny) Smith of Cullman Alabama passed away at his residence on January 7, 2013 at the age of 65 after a battle with cancer. He was born in Cullman on February 12, 1947 to C.J. and Ruth Yeager Smith. Kenny was a Vietnam veteran; served 2 tours in Vietnam and was wounded in 1967. He came out of the army as SGT E5. When he was discharged he worked for Hayes Aircraft in Birmingham, then Mackentepe Honda for several years before going to work for Nicholson File. After a major layoff, he went to Americold where he worked until it closed. Kenny was a security officer at Wallace State College for the last seven and a half years. He loved his job taking care of the teachers that had to work late at night.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Brother: Kermit Keith Smith and a daughter: Melinda Smith Allen, Father and Mother-In-Law: Woodrow and Tiny Crutchfield.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 10. 2013 at Faith Baptist Church at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Glenn Pender officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery on Hwy. 31 in Vinemont.
Survivors are: Wife of 44 years: Jane Ann Crutchfield Smith, Sons: Heath (Tracy) Smith, Anthony (Deidra) Smith, Grandsons: Dustin and Logan Smith, Trey White, Zackery Allen, Dustin King, Sister: Runna (Tim) Faulkner, Sister-In-Law: Janice Smith Powell, Nephews: Chad Smith, Tim and Allen Sartin, 4 Great Grandchildren.
