Kenneth Roy Ball was born May 28, 1945, in Jefferson County to Susie and Jack Ball. He entered into Heaven’s Gates on Nov. 18, 2015, at UAB Medical Center after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at Moss Service Funeral Home, following visitation at 11 a.m.
After graduating from Auburn, Roy came to Cullman as the agriculture teacher at Cullman High School. When Wallace State College opened, Roy accepted the position of head of the Horticulture and Agriculture Department and remained there until retirement.
Roy was always there for his family. He loved his children and grandchildren. He loved the outdoors. He loved working with his friends and neighbors on projects such as bailing hay, landscaping, taking care of cows and building fences. He was truly a tractor man, a jack of all trades, and loved helping and working with others.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Hattie Mae Thomas; his brothers, Jackie Ball and Jim Ball.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Dot Ball; his daughter, Courtney Walker (Kevin Furgerson); his sons, Ken Ball (Terri Ball) and Richard Reid (Jamie Reid); grandchildren, Tyler, Katie, Lauren, Kai, Cade, Judah, Devon, Ace and Layne; his sisters, Mary Alice Spear (Farrar), Shirley Ball and Maybelle Thomas; his brothers, Jerry Ball (Patsy) and Richard Ball; and a host of nieces and nephews.
