Mrs. Ponder was born July 24, 1941 in Blount County to Bernice and Edward Baty. She passed away peacefully January 30, 2017 at UAB hospital surrounded by family.

A longtime resident of Cullman, Jane taught school for 34 years retiring from the Cullman City School system.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents. She was survived by her husband of 50 years, Freddie (Fred) Ponder; sons: Marc K. Ponder (Brandi) and Darrell L. Ponder; and her two brothers, Robert Baty (Rosa) and Joe Baty. “Nana” had three grandchildren: Bailee, Paxton and Case Ponder.

Mrs. Ponder was a graduate of Cleveland High School, attended Samford University and graduated from The University of Alabama. She was a member of St. Andrews Methodist Church for 46 years.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 6 pm until 8 pm at Moss Funeral Home. The celebration of her life will be held at St. Andrews United Methodist Church

At 2:00 PM Thursday, February 2, 2017. Lying in state from 1 PM until 2:00 PM with interment at the Cullman City Cemetery.
