

He was born in Lacon, AL. James is a member of St. John's Evangelical Christian Church in Cullman.
Jim is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Hall Mechaw; and a host of nieces, nephews, business associates and friends.
He was preceded in death by parents: Myrtice Hart Mechaw and Commodore Johnnie Mechaw; and siblings: Ruby Harris, C.J. Mechaw, Herman Mechaw, Pete Mechaw, Billy Mechaw, Guy Mechaw, and Frankie Mechaw.
The family will receive friends, Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until the start of the Celebration of Jim's life which will be on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 10:00 AM. at St. John's Evangelical Christian Church with Nathan William officiating. Burial will follow at Bell's Springs Cemetery.
The family wants to express appreciation to our family, church family, and many friends for the compassion, prayers and support during this stressful time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Jim to Cullman Caring for Kids.
