Gerald D. Sims

Funeral services for Gerald Sims, 73, of Vinemont will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 3, 2011, at Faith Baptist Church, Dr. Jeff Steele and Bro. Charles Ervin officiating, with burial in Bethlehem West Cemetery. Mr. Sims will lie in state from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Sims died Friday, July 1, at his residence. He was born April 27, 1938, to Henry and Tressie Rodgers Sims. He was a shoe repairman and salesman.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Joyce Sims; three daughters, Janet (Matthew) Sims Johnson of Cullman; Susan (Mike) Sims Graves of Vinemont and Rebecca (Al) Sims Renteria of Cullman; three brothers, Dale Mack Sims of Huntsville, Bernard Dwight Sims of Cullman and Larry Gene Sims of Summerfield; a sister, Freda Sims Davis of Madison; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Gerald Sims to Hospice of Cullman County, American Cancer Society or Faith Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the church.
