Eloise Goodlett Speegle died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at the age of 87. She was born Jan. 6, 1926, in Cullman to W.E. and Beulah Goodlett. She grew up in the Goldridge community and graduated from Fairview High School as president of her senior class in 1945. She married Chester H. Speegle and moved where the U.S. Air Force sent them for 20 years while raising five children. They retired back to “the farm” in Cullman County, where Eloise enjoyed gardening, bowling, traveling with the Silver Spirit Club, and her grandsons. She was a member of the South Cullman Church of Christ.
Eloise was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jeff; husband, Chester; brother, James Goodlett; sister, Wynell White; and brothers-in-law, Don Bonner, James White and Elvert Bentley.
Survivors include daughters, Diane Speegle and Jill Speegle of Birmingham and Debbie (Jeff) Hull of Decatur; son, Chester “Chet” Speegle II of Cullman; grandsons, Andrew Hull of Decatur, John Hull of Atlanta, Ga., Mark (Pam) Hull of Illesheim, Germany, and Matthew Hull of Birmingham; great-grandson, Eli Hull of Illesheim, Germany; sisters, Mable Bentley of Cullman, Barbara (Gordon) Bennett of Oneonta, Sarah (Bill) Patrick of Cullman, Jenny Bonner of Port Neches, Texas; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Goodlett of Cullman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at the funeral home, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery.
