A graveside service for Dorothy Nell Watson York will be held on Wednesday, October 13, at 2:00 P.M. at the City of Cullman Cemetery. Dot died peacefully on October 9, 2021, at Woodland Village Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Cullman, where she lived for four years.
Dot was born on in Joppa, Alabama, on March 14, 1933, to Will Howard Watson and Hassie Pearl Parker Watson and graduated from Fairview High School in 1950. Dot married Charles O. York, Jr. on February 28, 1959. Together they had one child, Charles David York. David and Charlie died three weeks apart in 2017.
Dot was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, her brother Donald David Watson, her sister Linda Geraldine Watson Henderson, and her niece Leesa Watson. Among those who survive her are her niece Donna Watson Love, her nephews David Watson and Michael Watson, her sister in law Gail Weaver, and her brother in law G. David York.
Dot was industrious and hard working. She worked as a tax preparer in Cullman for many years. She was a long-time member of St. John’s Evangelical Protestant Church. Dot enjoyed working in her yard and loved animals. She had several close friends, whom she loved dearly. She is now reunited with all members of her immediate family.
