Mrs. Dorothy Jane Wadsworth Sandlin

Funeral Services for Mrs. Dorothy Jane Sandlin, age 82 of Cullman, will be held Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bethsadia Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery, with Jim Abbott officiating. She will lie-in-state at the church for one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Sandlin was born on February 24, 1930 in Johnstown, PA to the late Samuel and Helen Elizabeth Brown Wadsworth. She passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2012, at her residence. Dorothy was the secretary to the principal of Cullman High School for 27 years prior to her retirement. Was a longtime member of Bethsadia Baptist Church since 1963. She was a vital member of the Body of Christ by working in Vacation Bible School, teaching Sunday School to many different age groups; and keeping the church’s financial books until she was unable to do so as a result of her illness.

Survivors include her Husband of 62 years – Carroll Ray Sandlin; one Daughter – Connie (Barry) McGriff; one Son – Mark Sandlin; one Brother – Don (Naomi) Wadsworth; two 2 - Granddaughters – Amanda (Warren) Fuller and Tara Sandlin; three 3 – Great-Grandchildren – Isaac Sandlin, Braxton Sandlin and Alyssa Fuller.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu-of-flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mrs. Sandlin to Hospice of Cullman County.

The family would like to send a very special “thank you” to Dr. Jim Hoover and the wonderful people that make up Cullman Internal Medicine; the staff of C.R.M.C. and to Hospice of Cullman County.
