David was hearing impaired but he never let that hinder him. He attended Alabama School for the Deaf in Talladega and was a Star Athlete there. He loved entertaining children at birthday parties dressed as a clown and doing his magic tricks. David also enjoyed art, and loved to paint. He and his buddies rode their motorcycles all over the country and he was an excellent pool player. He was retired from Stocham Valve, he worked for the US Postal Service and was also a Barber.
His parents preceded him in death as well as his sister, Betty B. Bullock and brother, Johnny Frank Self.
He is survived by his sister, Virginia (Ronald) Pattillo and several nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 from 10:30 until 11:00 at Moss Service Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date at Crossroads Cemetery.
Special thanks to Comfort Care Hospice, Lori McGrath, Dr. Gladish, Dr. Borrito and the Cullman Regional 3rd floor staff.
