Funeral Services for Mr. Charles Joseph Boike, age 75 of Cullman, will be Tuesday, November 29, at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Rev. Patrick Egan, O.S.B. officiating. Burial will follow at Catholic Cemetery.

Mr. Boike a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, died on Nov. 25, with his devoted and loving wife by his side. He is the son of the late Charles I. Boike and Norma Smith Boike. He graduated from Sacred Heart School and achieved a record of perfect attendance in grades 1-8. He graduated from St. Bernard High School and St. Bernard College in 1958, and earned his master’s degree from the University of Montevallo in 1973.
He will be remembered by many as their Drivers Education teacher, having taught in both Cullman county and Cullman city schools for a total of 35 years. He was the Drivers Education Teacher of the Year in 1990, an avid gardener and a great “handy man”, and pursued these passions after retiring from teaching.
Survivors include his Wife of 51 years, Mary Ann Veigl Boike; one Son – Joseph Gregory (Kathy) Boike; two 2 – Daughters – Wilhelmina Boike (Ken) Miller and Rita Boike (Darrell) Dinkel; 4 – Grandchildren – Gregory Boike, David Miller, Emily Miller and Jonathan Dinkel; one Brother – Edward (Evelyn) Boike; one Sister – Mary Jane Boike Weissend; and numerous Nieces, Nephews, great-Nieces and Great-Nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 28, 2011 at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.; with a Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m.
In Lieu-of-Flowers, the family request donations be made to the Sacred Heart Church Stained Glass Window fund.
