Suzanne M Carter

Suzanne Marjorie Carter, 85 of Mt. Prospect, passed away Sunday August 18, 2024. She was born April 29, 1939 in Oshkosh, WI to David and Ramona (Ihde) Day.

Sue and Ken met at UW-LaCrosse and had been married for almost 63 years. He passed away earlier this year on March 27, 2024.

Sue spent her career as an elementary school physical education teacher in Prospect Heights, IL. Her favorite unit every year was when she started the cross country sking unit. Sue retired with her husband in 1994 and they enjoyed the last 30 years splitting time between their homes in Mt Prospect and Sun City Arizona. She loved the six months every year spent in Arizona. She always said she did not miss work and could easily swim, shop and go on adventures with her Arizona friends every day of the year! Sue also loved spending the month of January in Mexico for 25 years with Ken, her sister Judy and brother in law Lynn.

She loved NOTHING more than being a grandmother and then a great grandmother. When her school had snow days she would call up and ask if she could come get the kids and take them sledding. Plenty of sleepovers always included a fun adventure. She made a point of traveling to Key West, Florida often to see her grandaughters that lived there. She would even tell Doug and Karen to go away on vacation so she could be alone and have fun with the girls. Her bag was always packed with activities. She was so happy to see her granchildren having their own kids. Her family believes that she is the BEST grandma and great grandma ever!!!

Sue will be dearly missed by her family, including her children: Jeanne Bambini (Lou), Doug Carter (Karen); her grandchildren: Nick Bambini (Vanessa), Kelly Wille (Steve), Kenny Bambini (Julia), Aimee Varela (Joseph), Stephanie Arteaga (Arturo); her great-grandchildren: Charlee, Emma and Ben Wille, Joseph, Cameron and Olivia Varela, Marcus and Mateo Arteaga, Francesca Bambini; as well as her sister: Judith Mellenthien, and many nieces and nephews.

Celebration of life will be private.
