He was born June 24, 1944 in Liverpool, England to John and Miriam Davies. Ray grew up in England until he moved to the United States with his family in the 1950s. When they first moved to the States they resided in New York. Ray went back to England for several years but when he returned to the States he moved to Chicago with his parents.
Ray had a great love for opera. He was a big fan of English football and golf. Ray was an avid reader, liked writing, and had a particular interest in American History, especially the Civil War. He was a quiet man and he enjoyed life.
Ray will be greatly missed by his beloved daughter, Maria (Jamis Kowalski) Davies; his sister-in-law, Diane Davies; and his cousin, Ronald (Deborah) Sanes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Miriam and John Davies, and his brother, John Davies.
There will be a gathering from Noon to 4pm on Saturday, February 11 at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. A memorial service will follow at 4pm.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Salvation Army.
