Paul R. Reed Sr., of Johnsburg, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 9, 2024 with his loving family by his side. Paul was born in Knox County, Kentucky on June 29, 1947, to Edward Reed and Fannie Davidson Reed.
He grew up in Knox Fork, Kentucky until age 16, then he moved to Chicago, Illinois. This is where he met the love of his life. He married his beautiful wife, Crystal Stromblad, on January 25, 1970, in Chicago, Illinois.
He is survived by his loving wife, Crystal, his 3 loving children, Michelle (Jeremy) Carlson, Paul Reed Jr. and Joseph (Fiance Katie Hintz) Reed; his 5 grandchildren, Jacob (Morgan) Carlson, Jared (Kassidy) Carlson, Kellen Kiley, Georgia and Oliver Reed; His 2 great granddaughters Jana and Madilynn Carlson and a great grandson due in April of 2025; His only surviving sister, Brenda Lou (Richard) McCracken; His two sister-in-laws, Gwendolyn Reed and Sylvia Kujansuu; Many loving nieces and nephews; and his beloved 4 legged companion, Rusty Buck the Boston Terrier.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Ed & James Reed, his 5 sisters Kathryn Gibson, Betty Schulten, Lily Mae Stokosa, Wanda Belt and Linda Sue Smith.
Paul was a family man and loved his entire family. He enjoyed fishing with his sons, son-in-law and grandsons. He was a mechanic in the early part of his career and loved working on cars. He always loved tinkering on something in his garage. He later become the Service Manager at Sunnyside Dodge in McHenry, Illinois, where he worked for 22 years.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers please make a donation to St Judes Childrens, Toys for Tots or the Wounded Warrior Project in Mr. Reed's name.
A visitation for Paul will be held Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake, Illinois 60014. A funeral service will occur Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 12:00 PM, 500 W Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake, Illinois 60014. A committal service will occur Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Huntley Cemetery. A luncheon will occur Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Route 31 Banquets.
