

Neal R. Davis, 84, of Crystal Lake, IL passed away peacefully on February 12th, 2024. He was born on July 21st, 1939 in Quincy, IL to the late Perry and Bessie (Starnes) Davis. Neal was the last remaining sibling of many beloved brothers and sisters. Neal was married for 51 years to Betty (Schwerzler) Davis, who preceded him in death along with his infant son, Neal Junior.
Neal is survived by a daughter, Renee Davis (Paul) Herrmann, grandchildren Michael and Helen Herrmann all from Crystal Lake, IL and many dear family and friends.
Neal was in the U.S. Army National Guard as a Supply Specialist, Ordnance (Rank-Specialist 4) and was recalled for duty during the Berlin Crisis. He graduated from Quincy High School then studied business at Quincy College. Professionally, Neal was a salesman at heart and was proud of his livelihood. He was a manufacturers representative for several companies before launching his own company, Mid-Central Packaging Machinery in 1978.
Earlier in life, Neal’s hobbies included collecting coins and guns, fishing, building and flying model airplanes. Later in life, he usually could be found playing slot machines or hanging out with friends and family. Neal loved going for rides in his 1969 Stingray Corvette convertible. For both business and personal reasons, Neal enjoyed traveling all over the world.
A “Celebration of Life” will be held at a later date. Memorial donations in Neal’s name can be made to either the Crystal Lake Lions Club or Senior Care Volunteer Network (both located in Crystal Lake, IL).
