Gladys L. Smart

She was born June 4, 1928 in Warren, Minnesota to Albert and Lena (Olson) Haugen. On August 16, 1961 she married Gordon Smart Sr. in Chicago.

Gladys was a loving mother and grandmother who was always focused on her family. She loved to sew and embroider. She had an eye for pattern making and was always working on various projects.

She is survived by her children, Shirley (Roger) Hager, Jack (the late Connie) Landvick, Gayle (Paul) Goetz, Russell (Sandy) Smart, Cindy (Mike) Connors, Mike Smart, Renee (Dave) Sundby, Deborrah (Joe) Evanoff, Barbara (Cody) Kullos; 27 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Orville “Herk” Haugen and Shirley (Delwyn) Olson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Smart Sr.; her children, Gordon (Gail) Smart Jr., Mark Landvick, Sharol Landvick, David Landvick, and Richard Smart; her grandson, Jason Landvick; and her sisters, Amy (Bud) Hirst and Violet Peterson.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11am on Saturday, October 18 at Living Grace Community Church, 1500 Silver Lake Rd., Cary. The service will be at 11am.

Interment will be in Crystal Lake Memorial Park.
