He was born Nov. 20, 1945, in Arkansas. He served in the U.S. Army with the Big Red One during the Vietnam War. For more than 45 years, he enjoyed his work as a truck driver, most recently with Smith Cartage in Crystal Lake. He loved being outdoors riding his Harley, boating, fishing and camping.
He is survived by his son, Michael (Laurie) Jackson; his daughter, Maureen (Simon) Jackson; his sister, Valentina LePorte; and his brother, Robby Cercone.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ophelia Franks.
Friends may visit from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, Feb 7, at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. Cremation rites to be accorded.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to a charity of the donor's choice.
