He was born April 23, 1918 in Saskatchewan, Canada to Chester R. and Nessie P. (Nuckles) Littlejohn.
Max was a WWII veteran, having served as a Seabee, stationed in the Quadulan Islands. In 2016, he had the privilege of taking part in the Honor Flight to Washington D.C., the highlight of his year.
He and the love of his life, Gretchen, traveled the world. Some of his favorite trips were Thailand, cruising through the Mediterranean, the Galapagos Islands, and annual family vacations. Max was a devoted member of the Presbyterian church. He happily held many roles within the church, including serving as a Deacon, volunteering in the Stephen ministry, and as a proud member of the choir and church board. In his downtime, Max enjoyed exercising, challenging himself with the daily crossword puzzle, catching each episode of Jeopardy!, cheating at a family game of Skip-Bo, and reading historical novels. One of his favorite activities was his pizza and beer on a Sunday night, and of course, spending as much time with his family and friends.
Max is survived by his daughter, Karen (Richard) Funari; his daughter-in-law, Karen Littlejohn; his grandchildren, Shannon Funari, Richard (Wendy) Littlejohn Funari, Kellie (Danny) Swensen; and his seven great-grandchildren, Contessa, Leigha, Teagan, Reno, Danny, Dominic, and Lucca.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gretchen; his son, Thomas Littlejohn; and his brothers, Donald and Robert Littlejohn.
There will be a service in Sun City, AZ at the First Presbyterian Church at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, it is Max's wish that memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Sun City.
