He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Shirley A. Ogrodowski; sons, John Ogrodowski and Wayne (Lisa) Ogrodowski; grandchildren, Nicholas, Alicia, Diana, Angela, Corey and Holly; brothers, Fred (Pam) Ogrodowski, Lawrence (Darlene) Ogrodowski and Richard (Celia) Ogrodowski; many nieces, nephews, dear friends and colleagues.
Thomas Ogrodowski was born in Hammond at St. Margarets hospital. He grew up in Calumet City, IL where he eventually went to high school at T.F. North. This is where his love for track grew immensely. Over his 4 years of running track he was able to obtain his goal of running at the state championship meet. Running at a pace of around 4 minutes a mile at his peak condition. After he graduated he was lucky enough to run into the love his life at a sock hop on a crisp summer evening in 1964. Her name was Shirley Myers. Everyone thought they were too young to last, but boy did they prove everyone wrong. A year later after they have been dating. They were wed in 1965 on May 1st on a beautiful mild spring day. 54 years of marriage later, it easy to say it was a success. During this time Tom and Shirley created a beautiful family of two sons, and eventually 6 grandkids. He also was an excellent entrepreneur by creating multiple businesses including construction, rentals, and even fireworks. Tom left a legacy of being the pinnacle of being a great business, family, and selfless God fearing man. He is what every person should strive to be. A great patriarch of his family and a beacon of the Northwest Indiana Community.
Tom was a loving son, brother, husband, father and grandfather and will truly be missed by all whose lives he touched.
