Susan Gray

Susan "Susie" Gray, 97, of Merrillville, IN, passed from her earthly life on Sunday, December 18, 2022. She will be missed by her son Larry (Melanie) Gray; granddaughter, Cheryl (Scott) Filler; grandson, Daniel Voiles; great granddaughter, Nora Filler; great grandsons, Patrick Filler and Nolan Voiles as well as many extended family members. Susan’s greatest joy was her immediate family and the earlier passing of her husband Samuel Gray; daughter, Susan (Kenneth) Voiles, and great grandson, Eric Filler were the greatest tragedies in her life. Susan had a successful but unremarkable career after Larry and Susan were well on their way to adulthood. Rather than any of her accomplishments, the most important thing Susan would want others to know about her was that she was a follower of Jesus Christ. She came to the point of understanding and accepting God’s only plan for eternal salvation in mid-life and became a diligent student of the Bible and particularly of the prophesies that have not yet been fulfilled here on earth. She freely shared what she was learning with others via teaching adult Sunday School at Eastlake Baptist Church and hosting Bible studies in her home. At the time of her passing she was a member of Bethel Church in Crown Point. A Celebration of Life in her honor is being planned for early spring.
