Stella Juanita Moore

Stella Juanita Moore, age 91, of Valparaiso, formerly of Hammond, IN, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2022 at her home with her loving family at her side. Juanita was the loving wife to the late Francis Moore; beloved mother to Rebecca (William) Rogers, Debra (the late Bruce) Ripple, John "Frankie" (Ellen) Moore, and Tamara (Dean) Emmett; proud grandmother to Michael Rogers, David (Amy) Rogers, Tara (Daniel) Emburey, Jackie (Andy Harder) Rogers, Bryan (Tracy) Ripple, the late Rachel Ripple, Jennifer (Jeff Ashcraft) Martin, Bradley Ripple, Frankie Moore, Stacey Lewis, Stephanie Lewis, Jonathan Moore, Ashley (Ross) Nusbaum, Allison Emmett and Abigail Emmett; great-grandmother to 21; great-great grandmother to 1; sister to Anthony Stone and preceded in death by 7 siblings; and aunt to many nieces and nephews. Juanita was born on September 1, 1931 in Mount Carmel, Illinois. She was the daughter of the late Fredrick and Stella (Bouchie) Stone. On October 14,1950, Juanita wed the love of her life, (the late) Frank Moore. The two met in the first grade in St. Francisville, IL where they both grew up and were married just shy of 60 years. Juanita was an avid learner and could always be found with a good book, a crossword puzzle, or watching political news. She never missed a birthday and loved to send cards and letters to family and friends. Juanita will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 2, 2022 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307. Funeral Services will take place Thursday, November 3, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
