Stella Mae Mitchell

Stella Mae Mitchell age 84, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 in Valrico, FL. She is survived by her children, Leslie (Alan) Locke, Laura (Tim Kompier) Wright, Frances (Douglas) Richter, Stephen Reid (Doris) Wright, Andrew (Melissa) Wright, Lori Mitchell Tournis and Charla (Craig) Claus; 16 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; siblings, Mary Howard, Ruth Rager, John Daugherty and Rachael Williams; daughter in law, Linda Wright. Preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Mitchell and her son, Frank Wright. Stella was born by midwife on March 12, 1932 in Horse Branch Ohio County, KY to the late Baymus and Sadie Mae Daugherty attended the Centertown and Horse Branch schools in Kentucky. She was a longtime member and a Sunday school teacher for the First Baptist Church of Griffith. Her family and friends enjoyed her 'southern cooking' and hospitality. Stella was a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother and will be truly missed by all whose lives she touched. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 Cline Ave Schererville, IN) with Pastor Bob Parnell officiating. Interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM until time of funeral service at the funeral home.
