In 1971, Mike met the love of his life, Sharon (Olsen) Heavner. Mike and Sharon were married on December 20th, 1975. Mike and Sharon were blessed with six children: Joshua (Kelly) Heavner; Jessica (Nathan) Baker; Jack (Laurel) Heavner; Joel (Jenna) Heavner; Joanna (Nathan) Klocek; and Suzanna (Jeffrey) Wolfe. Mike’s artwork has been displayed and sold throughout the Midwest and across the country.
Mike carried with him an undeniable presence everywhere he went. He is remembered by most for his generosity and fun personality. He was eager to offer his time, money, and resources to others in need, often before he was ever asked. He gave to strangers, co-workers, other artists, and especially, to his large family. Mike’s impact on the lives of others far surpassed his own comfort, health, and well-being. His fun and engaging personality poured over into every aspect of his life, entertaining his children and their friends, leaving a legacy of fun and unique stories to tell. He spent his last few years at home enjoying time with his family, inspiring his grandchildren to laugh and share in his love of drawing, painting, and singing.
Mike was predeceased in death by his mother and father, Paul and Elouise Heaver, his brothers, James Heavner and Robert Heavner, and his sister, Martha Watt. He is survived by his wife, six children and their spouses, his thirteen grandchildren, and six siblings: Tony Heavner (Wendy); John Heavner (Maureen); Margie (Bob) Jackson; Joe Heavner (Debi); Enoch Heavner (Diana); and Eddy Heavner (Dawn).
