He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Peggy (Robinson) Hinckley; children, Erik O. (Julie) Hinckley, Tina R. (Erik) Petersen, and Kathleen (David) Dowling; grandchildren, Grant (Jessie Fox) Hinckley, Garret Hinckley, Jenna Hinckley, Lilyana Petersen, and Elise Petersen; siblings, Teresa Kopinski and Ellen Zoltak; along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Mark is welcomed into everlasting life by his parents, William and Adelle Hinckley; and brother, Paul Hinckley.
Mark was passionate about education. He spent decades working for different school corporations, in particular serving as school superintendent in Nicollet, MN. His love of swimming, boating, sailing, and cars kept him busy enjoying retirement. His everyday life was focused on time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Listening to music, dancing, and traveling are how he made his memories. He will forever be remembered by his family and friends for being a kind, loving and generous person.
A Public Visitation for Mark will be held Friday, September 8, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307. A Parastas Service will be held at 6:30 PM, followed by family sharing stories of Mark. A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Descent of the Holy Spirit Orthodox Church, 545 E. 77th Avenue, Schererville, IN 46375. Burial to follow with Military Honors at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307.
