Obituary of Leslie Fleener
Leslie Allyson Fleener, age 68, of Long Beach, IN, peacefully entered into rest surrounded by her loving family and friends on September 4, 2024. Leslie was born December 15, 1955 to the late Raymond and Dolores Fleener (née Olszewski) and grew up in Calumet City, IL. She graduated high school from T.F. North in 1974, and attended South Suburban College before obtaining a job at a downtown Chicago law firm. Leslie embraced life with an infectious enthusiasm, always outgoing and always joyful. She had a laugh like no other; one that was sure to sway you. It might also summon the neighbors pleading for quiet, but you'd be laughing all the while. Leslie knew the point of life is to enjoy it, and she had no problem letting the world know that she was having a good time. Leslie always had joy and love to spare and spent loads of time with family and friends. She was a true social butterfly and had many, many close friends, drawn to her undoubtedly by her bright personality and adventurous spirit. All who knew her will remember her fondly as a kind and generous woman who was always willing to help and put a smile on your face. All her life, Leslie was an outgoing person. She loved to travel and explore, try out new restaurants, and play cards and games with friends (beware of flying dice). She had a great passion for growing flowers and the outdoors, especially the beach, where you were sure to find her come Indiana summer or Florida winter. Leslie was introduced to her husband, John, through family friends 16 years ago and they've been together ever since. She and John made things official in 2021 in an oceanside ceremony under a Florida sunset, a ceremony that merged not only two loving people, but two loving families into one. Leslie is survived by her husband, John Henry; siblings, Laura (Jim) Fanta and James Potocki (Neil Fanelli); John’s daughters, Amanda (Ian) Munizer and Michelle Young, whom she treated as her very own; grandsons, Emmett and Tyler Young; nephews and godsons, Michael Fanta (Stephanie Klenotich) and Mark Fanta; great-nephew, Connor Fanta; and goddaughter, Katie Zivkovich. She was preceded in death by her late parents, Raymond Fleener and Dolores Potocki. Visitation will be Sunday, September 8th from 12:00 - 6:00 pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307. The Funeral Service will be held at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 500 Northgate Drive, Dyer, IN 46311, at 10:00 am Monday, September 9th. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Michiana Humane Society, Inc. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.ChapelLawnFunerals.com for the Fleener family.
