Joseph was born August 14, 1918 to the late George and Tilly (Ruthkowski) Piotrowski. Also preceding him in death are his siblings, Mary, Fran, Stanley, and John.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Adrienne (Rodger) Horton, Jackie Petroski, and Georgene (Jeff) Pate; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Joe retired from Hammond Public School Corporation, previous to that he worked at General American in East Chicago. He proudly and honorably served in the United States Navy during World War II, serving as a torpedo man on the USS Submarine Skipjack and the USS Destroyer Floyd B. Parks D-884, in the Pacific Theater. Joe was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion of Hammmond. He loved horseracing, especially the Kentucky Derby, and was an avid White Sox fan. Joe enjoyed spending time with his daughters and grand pups.
Visitation will be from 10 am- 2 pm, Saturday, April 16 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 S. Cline Ave.; Schererville, Indiana 46375). Funeral services will follow at 2 pm with Pastor Grant Butler officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, with military rites to be conducted.
