James L. Wagner, age 75, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2013. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Judith Wagner; sister-in-law, Diane Hezlep and brothers-in-law: Eli (Louise) Suzukovich, Bob Fleenor and Larry Ohrn. Also survived by his nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Edith Wagner. Jimmy was born in Chicago, IL on August 20, 1937. He was a graduate of South Shore High School in IL. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in Korea. He was an Army Master Sgt E9 472nd CML BN S-4 Section and the 315 Field Depot Supply Directorate and Services Directorate. Jimmy worked for Kroger and Dominick's Foods in Illinois. Jimmy was a life member of VFW 717 of St. John, IN; past Quartermaster, State of IN. Chief of Staff to Jesse Murando. He was also State Guard and State Buddy Poppy Chairman. He held offices in District 1. On National level, he was National Aide-De-Camp from 1998- 1999. He loved his cats Bootsie and Mittens. He was a big fan of the Indianapolis 500 and Daytona. He was also a Chicago Bears fan. Jimmy will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A memorial gathering will take place on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 Cline Ave, Schererville, IN) Services will begin Wednesday evening with the VFW 717 at 6:30 p.m. followed by the American Legion Post 369 at 7:00 p.m. Donations in Jimmy's memory may be made to Wounded Warriors (www.woundedwarriorproject.org).
