Our beautiful Jacqulynn "Jackie" Wheeler, age 61, of Lake Wales, FL, formerly of Lake County, IN, lost her battle with cancer and passed away on August 27, 2021 at 2:00 am. She fought the good fight with everything she had in her. She was surrounded by her family and close friends and went to be with her Lord and those who preceded her in death. Jacqulynn was born on September 28, 1959, the daughter of Mark Gibson and Willie (Gibson) Trigo. She was raised in Hammond, IN by her parents Vincent and Willie Trigo.
Jackie was fortunate to have two fathers in her lifetime. She is welcomed into eternity by both, Vincent Trigo and Mark Gibson, along with her two brothers, Dwayne Trigo, Steven Gibson; and sister-in-law, Pam Trigo.
She leaves behind her loving Mother, Willie Trigo; son, Timothy Opat; five brothers, Keith (Kara) Trigo, Tony (Maria) Trigo, Dan (Linda) Gibson, Barry Gibson, Brian Gibson; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
There are people in this life that touch so many others as they go about living. Jackie Wheeler will always be considered one of those people. She dedicated 32 years to working as a 911 operator for the cities of Hammond, Gary, Lake Station and then Lake County, Indiana. She responded professionally, ensuring the safety of her fellow colleagues as well as helping those requiring police, fire, or medical assistance. She mentored and trained others. She served on the Board for NENA (National Emergency Number Association) in many capacities, including President for the Chapter of the State of Indiana.
She also touched the lives of many family and friends. For many of you she was a dear friend, for many of you she was a dear family member, and for a lot of us, she was considered a precious sister. She will be forever missed by everyone who was lucky enough to have known her.
A public visitation for Jacqulynn will be held Friday, September 3, 2021, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Ave., Crown Point, IN 46307, followed by a funeral service beginning at 7:00 pm. Private burial will take place at a later date.
