Isaac "David" Griffin, age 87, of Hammond, IN went home to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. He was born on November 8, 1935 to the late George Franklin and Jessie (Everly) Griffin in Central City, KY.
He leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Jean Griffin; children, David Wayne Griffin, and Robin Lynn (Russell) Lee; five grandchildren, Lucretia Lynn (Stephen) Swanson, Kristopher Griffin, Angelina Griffin, Nicholas Griffin, and Julian Griffin; one great-granddaughter, Tallulah; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
David is welcomed into everlasting life by his daughter, Debra Jean Griffin; parents, George and Jessie Griffin; and sisters, June Nanie, and Mary Paris.
David had amazing talent. In 1958, he went off to serve his country honorably in the United States Army, serving in the Korean War. In May of 1961, he married the love of his life, Jean Gregory, and they had three children. He was able to have a career with Ford Motor Company for over 30 years of service. He was known as "Possum" by all of his colleagues. His interests were western movies, listening to older country and gospel music. Looking at vintage cars was how he spent his free time. He even collected replicas of the old cars. He has been a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Hammond, IN. David has trusted Jesus as his Savior since, February 21, 2008. Family meant the world to him. You knew you had a special place in his heart because, as you would hang out with him, he created a very special nickname for you. He took pride in being related to the Everly Brothers and James Best. His sense of humor and unconditional love for each and every family member will forever be missed. His family believes that it will truly be a glorious day when they will be able to see him again and that there will be no more goodbyes.
