Cleveland (Cleve) Dykes, age 68, passed away on Friday, February 11, 2011. He was born February 15, 1942 in Perry County, KY to Samuel and Martha (nee: Caskey) Dykes. He married Ruth Dykes and she survives. Also survived by one son, Jim (Kim) Dykes; daughters: Sharon (Don) Wooden and Karen Dykes; granddaughters: Amanda Dykes and Brittany Wooden; eight siblings: Jewel Pence, Frank Dykes, Bobbie Peach, Billy Dykes, Maxine Fagues, Dorothy Hayes, Sam Dykes and Martin Dykes. Many nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Sam and Martha Dykes; and one brother, Ray Arnold Dykes. Cleve worked in the office for Pennsylvania Truck Lines. Cleve will always be remembered for being a Lover of God, Lover of Family and Lover of Life. Cleve loved God with all of his heart, mind, soul and strength. That love always shone through to first, his family, and also to all he came in contact with. He loved every moment of his life and he measured life not by the number of breaths he took, but by the number of moments that took his breath away. He is having the ultimate breathtaking experience now and he will be missed but he is forevermore in our hearts and a part of our lives. The family will receive visitors from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Schererville, IN. Funeral service for Cleve will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at the funeral home with Pastor Randy Wooden officiating. Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN. Flowers may be sent or preferred memorials may be made in Cleve's memory to "Hope Lights the Night".
