Obituary of Charles "Chuck" Ingram
Charles Edward Ingram, age 76, of Hammond, IN, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024. Chuck was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose deep love for his family was the heart of his life. Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Joyce (nee Langel) Ingram; his daughters, Erica Kane and Jodi (Floyd) Bennett; and his step-children, Larry Cole, Jennifer Cole, and Ann (Brett) Coglianese. He will be fondly remembered by his 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, who will always hold dear the memory of the greatest Papa. Chuck was preceded in death by his son, Bobby Ingram, and his parents, Cecil and Marjorie Ingram. A proud 1967 graduate of Highland High School, Chuck served honorably in the United States Army from 1968 to 1974, attaining the rank of E5. His commitment to service continued as a dedicated member of the American Legion, Legionnaires, and Sons of the Legion, Post 232 in Hessville, IN. Chuck’s career with the Laborers’ Local 41, from 1978 to 2005, showcased his dedication and hard work, a testament to his enduring spirit. Even after retirement, Chuck was still an active member in the Laborers' Local 41 for 46 years. Chuck was known for not sitting still and took on the role of bar manager at the American Legion, Post 232 after retirement. Chuck’s greatest joy was his family. He cherished every moment spent with them, and his love was the foundation of his life. A lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, Chuck found pleasure in playing poker, camping, and making lasting memories with his loved ones. His legacy will live on as a devoted husband, father, brother, and the most cherished Papa. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Northwest Indiana Veterans Village in honor of Chuck’s life and service.
