Benjamin R Dorton

Benjamin R. Dorton, age 87, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2012. He is survived by his loving daughter, Linda S. (James T.) Tate; stepson, David (Angie) Tussey; grandchildren: Tonya (Kent) Howard, Sherry (Tao) Davalos, Russell (Julie) Tussey, David (Laura) Tussey, Dawn (Tim) Morgan, and Robert Tussey; great grandchildren: Rylee Howard, Noah Tussey, Aleena Tussey, Caleb Tussey, Amber Morgan, and Dillon Morgan; step daughter-in-law, Phyllis Tussey; sister-in-law, Dolores Hughes-Rod; uncle to many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his Loving wife Margaret Dorton, stepson Bob Tussey, great grandchild, Jacob Tussey and siblings: Flores Marvel, Donald Dorton, Warren Dorton, Margene DeFries, Maryann Holland, Harry Dorton, and their spouses; and brother-in-law, Jim Rod. Benjamin proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and was stationed in Philippines. He was a member of the American Legion Post 168 of Hammond, IN. He enjoyed gardening, bowling, golfing, playing cards, but most of all spending time with his family. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 21, 2012, 10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Munster with Pastor Donald Stock officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 Cline Ave., Schererville, IN) from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Munster.
