Vera Lee Sack

Vera-Lee Vistreich Sack died at 5:10pm February 8, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was born on November 7, 1930 to Magda Kaldor Vistreich and Dr. Fernand Vistreich. After graduating from Katherine Gibbs secretarial school, she worked as an executive secretary for Grey Advertising in New York. In 1956, she met and married Robert Sack and they were happily married for 50 years. In 1957 she became a full time mom to her daughter Lyn.

The family moved to Croton-on-Hudson in 1960 and had another daughter, Gail. Throughout their childhoods, Lee was active in PTA and school related activities. Eventually she spent several terms on the local school board. Lee was an excellent cook and famous for her dessert parties. She continued to be active in the community and Temple Israel of Northern Westchester.

When her children left for college, she took a job as an office administrator in the office of Dr. Richard Parrino. After that she volunteered at Phelps Memorial hospital until she moved to North Carolina at the end of 2018 to be closer to Gail. She was welcomed and embraced by the Trinity Oaks community in Salisbury.

Lee is survived by daughters Lyn and Gail, sons-in-law Mike and Eric, grandchildren Mackenzie (Fred), Leah, Susan (Senthil), and David (Mandy) and great-grandchildren Nivi, Addie, Conner and Matthew.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Broadway for Arts Education https://www.broadwayforartsed.org or the food bank or women’s shelter of your choice.

There will be services at Temple Israel of Northern Westchester in New York on Thursday, February 16 at 11am. Interment to follow at Sharon Gardens Cemetery.
