Pat was born on September 12, 1916 in New York City to the late Robert W. and Roberta (Mann) Elliott. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt and was devoted to her family.
She spent her childhood in NYC, moving to Croton with her family at the age of 13 and was member of the Croton-Harmon High School class of 1934. She then pursued a career in nursing, graduating as a registered nurse from Grasslands School of Practical Nursing and later earning her BS degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1970. She practiced nursing at Grasslands Hospital in Valhalla and at French Hospital in NYC. In 1942, she married Dr. John Gilbert Garbarini at St. Aedan’s Church, Jersey City, NJ. Pat and John spent the early years of their marriage in Jersey City, before building a house on Alexander Lane and moving to Croton in 1950.
Pat was an avid reader and also enjoyed gardening, pets, outdoor activities and visiting the Maine coast. She also gave freely of her time, both as a Brownie leader and as a volunteer reading teacher in the Ossining and Peekskill school systems.
She is survived by her beloved children, Karen LeVentis, Lynn Willscher, Jan Garbarini, Craig Garbarini (Blanche), Doug Garbarini (Suzanne); adoring grandchildren, James LeVentis, Becky Shuk (John), Alex Willscher (Jillian), Garth Willscher (Jill), Claire Willscher (Steve Haggerty), Gayle Wheaton (Harrison), Alison Garbarini and Elizabeth Garbarini, 16 great grandchildren and her brother, Robert W. Elliott, Jr. (Carol). Pat was predeceased by her husband, John Garbarini in 1981, as well as her granddaughter, Cindy LeVentis and her sister, Dorothy Koehler.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 11, 2018, from 10 am to 12 noon at the EDWARD F. CARTER FUNERAL HOME, 41 Grand St., Croton-on-Hudson, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 pm at Holy Name of Mary Church in Croton. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery, also in Croton.
