Following the coldest snowy winter in NY history, Olga (born Olga Rothemund), passed peacefully in her sleep as spring arrived. She grew up in NYC and afterwards worked in her parents' delicatessen in Valley Stream, NY. She enjoyed horseback riding and later owned her own horse. She graduated with a Masters from NYU and was an art supervisor at Ossining High School. She ran a dress shop in NYC and was a skilled designer. She is pre-deceased by her parents, Hans Rothemund and Gretchen Jacob Rothemund, brother, John Rothemund, and husband, Max Gersh. She helped Max start a successful home restoration business, now Maxons. Olga was an artist and devoted mother who raised her children in Roslyn Heights and Old Westbury, NY. She raised and sold AKC German Shepherds. She moved to Port Washington, and in her eighties worked at a gourmet market, also attended the Port Washington Senior Center. Later she moved to Skyview Rehabilitation Center in Croton on Hudson to be near her surviving children, Gretchen Gersh Whitman (husband, Dale Whitman) and Gerald Gersh (wife, Patty Gross Gersh) and her three grandchildren, Megan Whitman, Spencer Whitman and Brian Gersh. She was an eternal optimist and a delight to all. An eagle soared outside the window when she passed.
