Joan Veronica Herrmann

Joan Veronica Herrmann of Buchanan, NY passed peacefully on September 7, 2013. She was 82 years old.

Born in the Bronx on February 28, 1931, she was the daughter of Michael and Anna Rogers and the sister of Margaret Walsh of Bethpage, NY. She is predeceased by her husband, Alfred, and her brother, Donald.

Joan and Alfred moved to Montrose in 1964 and raised three children, Jean (Ryan), Michael, and Patricia (Musico). She worked for many years for the New York Telephone Company and enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends. Joan was a member of the Buchanan Senior Citizens Club, the Cortlandt Yacht Club and a long-time parishioner of St. Patrick's Church (Verplanck) and St. Augustine's Church (Ossining). She was a volunteer gym teacher at St. Patrick' s Elementary School when her children were students at the school. Al and Joan also owned Bensky's store in Peekskill during the 1970's and were active in the Peekskill Rotary and Elks Club during those years.

Joan was a proud grandmother blessed with nine grandchildren: Brendan, Kevin Patrick, Spencer, Daniel, Austin, Lisa, Katelynn, Eileen and Michael. She also enjoyed spending time with her wonderful son-in-laws, Kevin and John, and daughter-in-law, Erin.

Visiting hours will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Edward F. Carter Funeral Home, 41 Grand St., Croton-on-Hudson, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Augustine's Church, Route 9, Ossining, NY. The interment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Verplanck.
