I loved your mom, and I'm mortified that I'm just finding this out now.  I have so many delightful memories:  the house, her butter cookies--made with REAL butter! the Danish Home, our block parties, and just greetings while passing.   She was a wonderful wonderful woman of stature, with a great sense of humor, and great warmth.   May you be comforted by knowing how many people's lives she inspired.  I will remember her always.

I'm so sorry to see this.  She was a wonderful lady, a friend's mother, scout leader, community service advocate,  and member of our church.  She contributed so much to Croton and will be missed. 

To Peter, Linda, and my very dear friend Peggy,

Those of us who grew up in Croton  and who moved away decades ago still carry cherished memories and images of the town that formed us.  The Dam, that funny traffic light ... and so many of the elders we respected and looked to as examples for our own lives.   Your mother was one of those very fine people, who spent a lifetime making Croton a better place to live.  She well deserves her rest.

I am so very sorry to hear of Gertrude’s passing. She was a dear friend while I was in the Croton Historical Society. 

Thank you, Gertrude. You were a great and loving woman. You lived your life honestly,  truthfully, and cared deeply for people around you. You will always be in my heart.
