Elizabeth Donovan Giblin died peacefully on May 8th in Ridgewood, NJ. She was born on January 25, 1938 in Buffalo, NY. Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband, William Giblin; her daughter, Geraldine Giblin; her parents, Angela and Thomas Donovan and siblings; Marita Pinkel, Patricia Jacobi and Thomas Donovan.
Elizabeth earned her teaching degree at Buffalo State College and a master’s degree at Mercy College. She and her husband, Bill were very active in the Croton community where they participated in the Croton Democratic Party, Children's Shakespeare Festival, Croton Booster's Club, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and they coached multiple baseball and softball teams.
She is survived by her children and their partners: Kathleen and Richard Ray, Maryjane Farr and Richard Mulligan, Kelly and Marty Keane, and Billy Giblin and Marcey Waters and her 10 grandchildren: Jack, Emma, Owen, Liam, Daniel, Catherine, Brendan, Miles, Daria and Margo. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews whom she adored. She rarely missed celebrating a birthday, wedding or chance to meet for brunch. During their frequent gatherings, there was laughter, music, and good food. There were political debates and a strong desire to make the world a better place.
She loved and was loved by her three childhood friends and Buffalo State alumnae who remained by her side until the end, “Buffalo Gals” Donna Curran, Kay Blake, and Judy Stover. The four of them traveled the world together, possibly instigating an international incident or two, one occurring after several Godiva Martinis at a Tanglewood Music festival.
Elizabeth Giblin was a wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, teacher, and friend who had an infectious laugh and who would wear a tiara to almost any occasion. The world was a brighter place with her in it
